Explaining the differance between mummy and daddy to your child .

emmie by emmie Talking Back(August 2007) (rank 32nd)

After daddy finnished work today our dog accidently stood on my partners penisand my step daughter got confussed and was asking how the dog could have stood in daddys fairy she doesnt stand in mine andmummys fairy so shere is how i dealt with the situation whie daddy sat there embarrassed lol.

First off i tried explaining how that we have a fairy because we are girls and that also when she gets a real big girl she will also have boobs like mummy i said to heer have a look at daddys chest does he have boobs like mummy she said no i said that is because daddy is a boy she brought that .

i went on to explain that daddy is a boy so daddy does not have boobs but daddy also doesent have a fairy instead daddy has a penis which is very differant to our fairy daddy penis hangs down this makes him a boy

Next was another question but mummy what does daddys penis look like can i see?

I said no but i tell you what me and you will do the dishes while daddy finds us a penis and fairy on mummys computer  she agreed to this so we did and we sat at the computer after and i explained both the pictures to her and then finally she understood after her words were so daddys hurts because his penis is on the outside and heboy and mine yours and chloes is little on the inside .

I was finally happy she understood what i was telling her and i just agreed yes darling thats right and she thanked me for helping her .

I hope this works for others too

cheers

Great way to deal with it.  Kids appreciate honesty and you did a fantastic job!  Hmmm, mine already understand some of the differences, like Mummy has the baby and daddy catches! lol.

Hehe I can't stop laughing at this one! I love the name 'fairy' very cute. We call a penis 'winky' in our family. Bryn saw me getting dressed a few months back and asked 'where's your winky gone?' Hehe. He also occasionally tries to squeeze my nipples to get the milk out when I'm feeding carden-very painful! Not too worried though-glad their generation won't have any hang-ups ad body issues!

Oh poor Barry - but look at the service his pain has provided to the rest of us...  Good on you for getting online to show her the difference, I am glad that she gets it.  Jaydee was eying us in a suss way the other day when we were running around getting ready.  I kept saying you and Daddy are boys - Mummy is a girl, see you have a penis, I have boobs and a vagina... Well now he is all obsessed with pressing my boobs and when we were out, he was pretending to play with the writing on my friends t-shirt, however he was getting a good squeeze in and laughing his head off.  Little rat bag!

I know you will be getting round to it in time - but now I feel guilty for call you fairy princess Emz all the time!  LOL.

Re: Explaining the differance between mummy and daddy to your child .
Hi
I still remember the first day that Megan saw her dads penis
We were lying in bed and she came in and the sheet fell off.
Her father quickly covered himself and she wanted to look
Knowing her curious mind and what  she would do i told her father to let her see
She giggled pointed and said Daddys got a diddle and walked of
Later on he had his undies on and she grabbed me and pointed at him and said
look daddys done a poo in his undies at the front
I was laughing my head off
But her curiousity was satisfied and she never worried about it again.
If Jalan sees her dad naked she points and laughs and goes peni peni  (penis)
Tell Barry we feel for him....
Only one thing i can say though is teach her vagina as God forbid anything should happen to her and she has to be questioned by Docs or the police she has to know the correct term not a pet name
Good on you for showing her pictures though...
Teach them correctly and it saves a lot of hassle in later life
Luv Deb

Hi Em,

Well done - You handled this situation well . . . Although I am curious as to why you haven't use real instead of fake ones . . .   Why is a girl vagina a fairy and yet dad has a penis???  Sorry if you think I'm out of place just curious . . . .

Cheers Kellz

Re: Explaining the differance between mummy and daddy to your child .

i used the word fairy to her because if i ever tell her it her vagina she will correct me and say its a fairy but i thought as she does not know any words for penis it was sensible to use that , we all have the right to be curious
