Last night, my idiot pyromaniacal 16 yr old son decided in his wisdom, to light a small can of petrol with a blowtorch. He ended up burning his left forearm. He was working with a couple of his mates fixing up their bikes in the garage. They thought they would
put it out with a rag. Not realising that the rag in question was covered in oil. So my boy picked up the flaming rag to throw it outside. And ended up with burns up his arms.
I got him upstairs into the shower, to run it under cold water for a while. Then got him out and wrapped it in a wet towel. While he was sitting in the lounge, he was in a bit of pain. I didn't want to give him any panadol in case I wanted to take him to the hospital, but I wanted to see how he was.
I decided to have a look at the advice section on Minti while I was waiting, just to see if there was anything different I should be doing. You know how in moments of panic, we sometimes forget to do things. I got a heap of advice from here. It helped me so much.
When I had another look at his arm, he had a couple of nasty blisters coming up, and once that happened it was off to the hospital. Turns out it is just superficial burns, but they put some wonderful cream on it "Silvasene" (absolutely brilliant, prescription only). Wrapped up and sent home with an appointment for Friday to come and have it redressed.
I just wanted to say how helpful the advice was, and without it I think I would have paniced a bit. It helped me to calm down and look at the burn analytically.
So it is great that it is there, and not just as a quick read and vote for an article that is posted. Use it as a reference tool, you will be surprised at the information that it contains. Considering there are currently 5583 articles, it is worth a look.
