Hot days

FremantleDocker by FremantleDocker Talking Back(August 2007) (rank 74th)

As we all know, it's coming up to summer, so we don't feel like doing much at all, or don't really allow our children to go outside, as it's way too hot and the fear of them getting dehydrated. This may work.

With all my children, i've given them

spray bottles, and they all fill them up in the morning, and put them in the freezer for about 2 to 3 hours, and then when it gets warmer outside, and they get bored inside ( even though the air conditioner is on ) they get their spray bottles and take them out side and start squirting them with each other.

There's plenty of drinks in the outside fridge, so their's no worries there. The elder children always remind the younger one's to drink all the time.

Another thing i've found which is great, is too if you have younger children, and you don't want them going out in the heat, get a big bowl, and fill it up with cold water and put ice in there, coloured ice with food colouring in it. ( Darkened Angel has done an article on the ice and food colouring, so if i cant' find the link, can someone please do it for me. thanks in advance ) and it makes them play in the water a little bit longer, and kept cooler for a little bit longer.

Re: Hot days

Great ideas, thanks for sharing!

My son was 4 months old when we moved to Arizona and it was still really hot so I always had (and have)a packet of baby wipes in the fridge to wipe him down with when he gets too warm.
