Seperate your childrens clothing

FremantleDocker by FremantleDocker Talking Back(August 2007) (rank 75th)

All my children's lives, i've seperated their clothing. They've gone to kindergarten since they were 2 and i've bought clothing for them which was cheap, and that's what they'd only wear to kindergarten. When they got home, they either stayed in their kindy clothing, or they changed into their home clothing if they weren't too dirty. Once they got out of kindy, and started schooling and didnt' get to the dirty stage, where they looked after their clothing better and understood why they had to keep their clothing clean, then they did. I then did out their wardrobes again, and only sorted them out into 3 lots of clothing again, which was school clothing , going out clothing to shops and then going out to parties, restaurants etc .

With the younger children and when the older children were younger i would have kindy clothing, home clothing and going out clothing like i mentioned before.

People will comment on how nice your children look out of kindy clothing and home clothing when they go out. They're impressed on well tthey look and how well mannered they are.

It's not that hard to seperate the clothing in the wardrobes as you get used to what clothing is what, and every time they grow out of them they will always get more clothing. It's difficult at first to remember all the clothing and on occasions that your child or children want to wear the good clothing, and you sometimes do let them, and get all happy etc.

Seperating the clothing like this has always helped me out in the past. I don't think it matters if you have one child  or 10 children, i found this to be the easiest solution that i've come across in sorting out the clothing.

Great ideas and i used to be able to that, and hoping to upgrade their wardrobes soon and do it all again.. As there isnt nothing worse then having nothing good to wear out on a special occassion..

Re: Seperate your childrens clothing

Thanks cazza. Yeah, i will be upgrading their clothing when tax time comes around, and giving small clothing etc to either the freecycle group on minti, or op shops. That's right, i agree, there's nothing worse than having nothing good to wear.

I do this also - only problem is that going out clothes are usually for going out to dinner! Now I try to put darker coloured good clothes on Bryn when he's going to eat out. He is so messy and I feel bad putting a bib on a three year old! :)

Re: Seperate your childrens clothing
Great idea, we do this too. It means good clothes don't get wrecked and kids don't have to worry about getting their clothes dirty etc and can just focus on playing, learning and having fun!

Hi. Exactly right. Let kids be kids and leave them to have fun. Great of you to come up with the idea also.

Great advice! I do this too - but I need another wardrobe as I'm running out of room! lol! I just wish my hubby would put his away too instead of leaving them folded in a pile on the floor!

Great advice. I tend to do this for my son and it really works well... erm until my husband dresses him!  I really think he is colour blind!! I put similar tops and shorts together as a set hoping hubby gets the idea... he hasn't quite got it yet.. but I shouldn't knock a bit of help!

Re: Seperate your childrens clothing

I do the same, easier that way. They have a draw for underwear/singlets/socks, then seperate ones for school clothes, day clothes, going out clothes and last but not least a pyjama's one.

Re: Seperate your childrens clothing

OMG!!! I thought I was the only person who did this. Everything in grub's wardrobe is good stuff and the drawers have his house/playgroup clothes. If I didn't do this everything would get trashed as he can't help but find dirty fun!!!
