Newborn baby going to a cot and 17 month old going to a bed

Hi,

I have a 17 month old almost 18 month old baby and a 10 week old baby and my advice is try and get the older one in a bed around this time and keep the young one in the bassinette as long as possible until the older

baby is adjusted to the cot and is ok with the new baby taking over the cot. The older baby can get quite jealous of the new baby taking over all of its old things and i have learnt that Ella (the older one) is not happy if i put Mia ( the younger one) in the cot at the moment or using any of her old toys. Just something to watch out for.

Great advice Kell! There is 17 1/2 months between my boys and the older actually wanted to go into a bed at 15 months - this suited us perfectly as we wanted to get him in there before the bub came. Worked fantastically and there were no problems when we came home and put his little brother in his old cot (we didn't use a bassinet, straight into the cot here).

Hi there,

Thanks for sharing this tip, I'm sure many mums will find it useful. . . I was silly enough to have 8 yr gaps between each of my children.

Nevermind at least you have some beautiful kids :) It is hard when they are this close until they get older and play together i guess it will become easy.

had to do something very similar......roughly about similar times........we got the older one to actually give the cot to the younger one it worked well.......he went into his bed before this happened and that helped too.......thanks for sharing.......regards Sandra xxx
