sharing your birthday

Anonymous Author (September 2007)

i share my birthday with my sister . when i was a kid it was ok but i am know 27  , 28 tommrow and she is 20 tommrow and it drives me insane she had a party last night night and my mum expects us to have a party

every year together and it isnt going to happen as i have my own family and my own friends .

i had up to 4 emails yesterday from both my sisters and ,my mum saying come to the party and share your birthday . we are indivial people and dont need to share it my husband and my kids want to do things for me .

kenny cooked dinner for me last night and we sat and watched movies hehe i made him sit through girlie chicks . but it can get very annoying sharing your birthday with my sister . mum has got it through here head we are twins .. well no we are not we only share the same birthday .

so please if your kids are on the same day when they get older please dont force them to share there birthdays as they may not like it .

it doesnt mean i love my sister any less it is just i have my own family and what time with my own family

Re: sharing your birthday
Hi Bel,

My hubby and his brother only have 4 days between their birthdays and as young children they shared a joint party but once they reached 13 that was it, they both got the right to choose on whether to have separate parties or not. Their parents accepted the fact that the were both little individuals.

I agree with you - you certainly have the right to have a separate party. Good on you and stick up for what you believe is right.

Cheers Kellz

Re: sharing your birthday
Must be hard, and she want you to share next year as its her 21st and thats special, and you would think she just want her friends around..... She must really love having you sharing her day...

My birthday falls on my egg donors birthday, and when i was growing up, it was never about me, we never had a cake or party as it was her day,. and she used to make sure that i knew it... I was 10 when i had my first cake, and thats only because she was in hospital having my sister, and i went and stayed with friends of the family, and there is 3 days apart from me and my baby sister...  When i left home at 14, My carers made sure that i had my day,. and my egg donor hated that.......

A lot now dont understand why at 32 that i still make a fuss on my bday, as i have a lot to catch up on...

So the messsage im trying to get across, have your day, but if your family want to make a fuss over you on the same day as you sister, let them, as its all worth the smiles,. if they make u sad on your bday, well then  just say that you want to do something special with kenny and the girls.. At the end of the day, Your happiness, and your hubby and girls come first now....

Hope you have a great day tomorrow....
take care
love cazza
