I was a bit concerned with my daughters progress as she could not recognised lowercase letters and associate them to the uppercase version. Of course this would come given time but she will be not quite 5 when she starts school and I was worried she would be behind....

Anyhow.... after a bit of a search around and some trial and error I found a great learning tool called
LETTERLAND
I bought a cd of alphabet songs (which I must admit when I ordered it I thought I was probably wasting my money), we play the cd in the car quite often and after 1 week she could tell me all the sounds the letters made ie A says a etc. She can tell me the 5 vowels also.
My 2 year old (only just 2) also sings along to the songs.
She can now recognise all of the letters and write the majority too.
She participated in 1 term of a class that used Letterland. They would sing the song that went with the letter, practice writing it, hear a story about the letter (I have since bought the Alphabet book also), do some craft etc.
She loved the class and she loves the book and cd. She has learnt so much and had heaps of fun doing so!
I think Letterland originated in England but am pretty sure its available world wide (I'm in Australia and its definately available here).
Just thought I'd share this with you. If you haven't already heard of it then its well worth checking into.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
