Re: Drying your milk up?? How Long
Asked by CountryGirl07

Question:
Just wondering how long it takes for your milk to dry up? My bub is nearly 3 mths and i still have milk. I choose not to breast feed and
was given tablets it stopped untill she was about 5weeks old. I am now on the pill and its still there with bub#1 it dryed up way before this. So is there anything else i can do or is it just a matter of waiting?

My Advice:

I heard that you could try using Cold Fx, that is Cold and Flu pills, that dries out the milk quickly.  Not quite sure though as i have never tried coz i am still nursing my little one.  I remember reading somewhere that i shouldn`t take it bec it will dry out the milk.

There are a few over the counter medications that lower milk supply, sdecongestants or anything that dries up your nose. I don't think they dry up milk permanently though, as sdoon as you stop taking it will come back. I fly quite frequently and find that jet lag is the worst for my milk supply - the combination of dehydration (no matter how much I drink) and tiredness stops my milk for at least 24 hours but it returns fully after 2 days.

That's true too, as is drinking too much coffee and not enough water.  That's what I was told anyway.
