Ease your kids into camping with a camping trip in your backyard

etcircus by etcircus Talking(October 2007) (rank 334th)
Camping is great fun when you are little! If you are worried about how your children might fare start out by having a camping trip in your backyard. You could set up the tent and introduce 'camping food' but cook it in the kitchen. Therefore the kids will be eased into it and you can see how they respond. Have a great time and don't forget to take torches. Functional for adults REALLY FUN for kids. You can put different coloured clear plastic in front of the torches for different coloured lights and don't forget the FANTASTIC dying art of making shadow puppets...

Re: Ease your kids into camping with a camping trip in your backyard
great idea for the not so keen on camping parent hehe! ::)'s  I personally didn't give my kids the chance to have issues with camping, just kinda threw them in the deep end and took them out bush when i camped, logan was 8 months and bug was recently for her first birthday, although she could have been less than 2 days old had my mum let me go to the camp that was organized. i did have my tent packed! LOL i think if they see that mum and daddy enjoy it then they take to it with less hassles. if you plan on taking babies camping the best thing to invest in is either a light weight portacot or a playpen. and get them used to being in it before hand. well done on the advice, you should try to expand on the idea, kids and camping are heaps of fun wherever they are. ::)'s becca!

I love camping, and this does sound like a good idea. Maybe expand on it a little more, with what things to have included, like sleeping bags (if you are going to stay out all night or even just a few hours) etc. Leisa

What a great idea... Could be a good way to ease Mumma's who want to camp, but aren't too keen on the whole isolation thing, into camping too!  Cheers, Lui .

Just a thought. Coudl work for parents who would prefer to camp at home yet satisfy the needs of children who really want to camp.

Sounds good. As this is very short, it would probably be better as a response to the question instead of an article. It's a great idea, just probably better in another spot.

But thanks for sharing anyway!
