Tips from a single mom!
Shower the night before!
It’s so much easier. Thankfully I’m one of those people who can replace a morning wake up shower with a morning cup of coffee!
Getting dressed!
To
dress the little one quickly, I bought 5 of those picture keeping boxes, and Sunday night (aka emergency laundry night) I put a bottom, a top, socks, and shoes in each one. To make it even easier, my daughter pretty much just wears jeans when it’s cold and jean shorts when it’s hot. Just grab a box and dress a baby!
Breakfast is important… but so is sleep.
During the week I make smoothies… yogurt, milk, fruit and veggie powder ( I use something called greens+, that I get at the grocery in the organics section). Mix it up and into the sippy cup it goes! Much nicer than toast and jam shoved under the seats in my car!
Independence.
I’m teaching Lily to do things herself… like brush her teeth (mom’s gotta do a once over at the end, but it gives me time and space to brush MY teeth!), and feed the cats… while I’m making breakfast! Multi-tasking!
Everything has a place, and every thing in it’s place.
If you always hang your key’s by the door, you’ll be able to find them. Put essential morning stuff, i.e. hair brushes and ties, back packs, homework, keys, coats, etc, in the same spot every day. You’re be able to find it while you’re on early morning auto pilot!
I know, I
could get up a half hour earlier and not have to rush so much, but I’m not a morning person, and I don’t think my daughter is going to be much of one either. That last half hour of sleep is heaven!
And anyway no one really likes to get up at 6…. do they?
