The nervous system has matured enough for the baby to move about more. All the organs plus the sack of amniotic fluid have been formed and the baby is now recognisable as a human being. The baby’s heart beat rate is around 160-170 beats per minute.
The most
critical part of your infant's development is complete. The babies head is now about half its length and then soon the rest of the body will catch up but it is prepared to keep up with the rapid brain development. The eyelids are now fuse shut and the irises begin to develop.
The placenta begins to function either this week or next week. This is an organ that is responsible for the nutrients and the removal of waste to keep baby growing and healthy. The baby’s tail will disappear this week. Baby starts to breathe this week and also is beginning to urinate. All good signs of development.
Baby should be around 1.20 inch long (3.0cm) and weigh 0.14 ounces (4gm) by the end of this week. Baby will be very active this week although you still wont be able to feel its movement as it is still very small. The external genitalia is forming and you will be able to see your babies sex very soon however it may be weeks before you have a ultrasound to see whether it is boy or a girl.
By this stage your morning sickness may begin to ease of a bit this week which is great news for you. You still maybe tired and nauseated at this stage, but don’t worry its all normal. Your hormones maybe all over the place at the moment which may cause blotchiness or pimples over your face don’t worry about this its your hormones running wild.
You also may start showing that you’re pregnant this week. If you don’t no need to worry it won’t be long now till your belly starts to show. So keep eating healthy fresh fruit, vegies, meat and drinking lots of water.
