11 Weeks Pregnant

ellamia by ellamia Talking Back(November 2007) (rank 52nd)

Your baby is now fully formed although it is only 6cm (2 ½ in) long, there is a lot of growing still to do here. The baby’s nails and hair are beginning to grow and its now got 32 teeth bubs in its jaw. It was also started to suck. The baby’s fingers and toes have now separated and look like tiny little feet.

Your babies organ systems are now fully functioning and the baby is growing very quickly now. Baby will be dancing around and wiggling in the womb right now. The baby’s head is still half the size of its body length it will grow into it but it will be like this for a little while. Your baby is still eating through the umbilical cord and is getting all your nutrients. It maybe suggested you take a breastfeeding and pregnancy vitamin to keep your strength up and to help baby.

The genitals begin to take the right gender and soon in a couple of weeks will be able to determine whether baby is a boy or a girl. The amniotic fluid is accumulating and it is mostly made up of water. This is to cushion the baby in your womb and it is very well protected there.

You probably haven’t gained much weight as yet but you will gain around 1kg (1-2lbs) a month in the first trimester this is all normal. Although if you do have bad morning sickness you may even loose weight and that’s normal too, just depending on the individual. Your morning sickness may of slowed down now and you are starting to get your appetite back. You may still be turned away from certain foods because of their smell, but it is important for good nutrition for you and baby so keep up the fruit and vegies and protein.

Re: 11 Weeks Pregnant

I just wanted to add that if the woman has not been taking prenatal vitamins at this point, she should start soon.  It is actually a good idea to start taking prenatal vitamins from the day the couple starts trying for a baby.
