Question:
when should a child start talking? bub is 18 months and wont talk. he says "kitty"... cus he loves our cat and he learned kitty real fast actually! but he dont say anything else?
he MIGHT say dada sometimes but not when he is talking to us. He knows what the words mean, you can tell him to get his drink and he will or way where is momma and he knows its me not daddy! but he wont talk? should i push harder for him to talk? or will he just do it in his own time?
My Advice:
Hi MistyDawn. I have been in childcare for over thirteen years. My advice it for you to encourage single words, a couple at a time. Pick a couple of things he likes. But dont worry he will do it in his own time but you also need to keep encourage him, but don't stress! At the moment I am doing Family Daycare and have Four 2-3 year olds. One of them is 2yrs old and talking sentences, two are 2.5yrs old and talking about 4 or 5 words and the other one is 3yrs old and until about three months ago didn't say anything, and now I can't keep him quiet, lol. So their all different, don't stress and just encourage.
