Well, this week has been
Soccer Camp Week - through AYSO and UK coaches. Which has already been, by the way,
some of the best $$ we've spent. In just 3 days he already knows SO much more and loves it more than we had imagined.
Anyhow... to the point. Yesterday was Wacky Wednesday and I found out about it Tuesday when I picked him up. I'm sad to report that he didn't win the prize for "wackiest" but I think we definitely put together something spirited!

1. Keep your Halloween Costumes/Decorations in an easy to find place. While running around to every drug store in town (Rite Aid, Longs, Sav On, Walgreens) I soon realized that NO ONE carries colored hair spray paint when it's not Halloween. Remembering that I might have some stashed away, I called home and made my boyfriend get the Halloween stuff. We were both glad I had spent the extra money on Orange and Black Rubbermaid containers making them very easy to spot (I have Green and Red for Halloween). So...
2. Organize your holiday deocrations in colored bins or my parents have pictures instead of just the words drawn onto boxes Jack-O-Lantern and Xmas Trees.
3. I keep everything as it is, so I don't know if this #3 is actually good advice. But, don't just keep the costume - keep the makeup and spray. I'm sure glad I did: Red from Pippy LongStocking... Green from Umpa Loompa!
4. CAN"T FIND FACE PAINT... kids poster paints works great! The only thing missing was white (we didn't have it in our little set). And most of them wash off very easily. Tempera paints work too - and you can add a little lotion in the mix to keep them a little smoother adn creamier - it won't flake off as much this way.
Though the little man didn't win, he got a ton of compliments, which just made his day. SO, maybe the bigger piece of advice here is to
make the effort for little things like Wacky Wednesday. So many kids showed up without anything... it got him excited and pumped up - and I hope will show him how to get involved in activities in the future.
And... I figured, this would be a great Halloween costume. Of course, I'd try to do a little more for the clothing and accessories... if I had the time.
