9 Weeks Pregnant

Anonymous Author (November 2007)

If you have just found out you are pregnant now is the time to see your doctor or midwife to arrange ante-natal care or if the pregnancy was/is unplanned you may need to seek advice or counciling. Your local family planning services or doctor/midwife will be able to offer advice

and help.

In the ninth week and possible for the next 31 weeks you may be experiencing pregnancy symptoms such as;

  • morning sickness,
  • fatigue,
  • tender breasts,
  • missed period,
  • urinary frequency.
  • feeling flushed due to your blood supply being increased.
  • constipation, due to and increase in the hormone progesterone

On the up side some womens morning sickness and other symptoms may start to ease of at this stage!

To help ease the discomforts of pregnacy try getting plenty of rest, eating smaller more frequent meals, eat plent of fibre and folate rich foods and seek medical advice on which vitamins you can / should be taking. You will need to increase you intake of protien, vitamins and minerals from here on in to keep up with the babies growth.

Nows the time to think about what type of antenatal care you want to have wether it be with your doctor, public hospital care, birthing centers, midwife or private obstetrical care. Your doctor or midwife may organise for you to have an ultrasound to confirm have far along you are and to give you a more accurate due date. Your antenatal visits will now be monthly (unless you need extra care / monitoring) untill about the 28 week mark where they become more frequent as needed.

Now about your baby, you babies eyelids are now fully formed and sealed shut and has now grown to about 22 - 30 mm in length.  Your babies tail should have disappeared by now or be in the process of disapearing as it looks more and more like a human every day. Also your babies gentials are now developing but look to much alike to distinguish between the two.

Put your feet up and get plenty of rest, you deserve it... you are making a baby you know!!

Only 31 weeks to go......

Re: 9 Weeks Pregnant

Great article - i wish i had found this site while i was pregnant!!

During my 9th week of pregnancy i had to have my appendix taken out. There was a major risk to bub, but because i wasn't in hospital for that reason they didn't do an ultrasound after the operation and i had to wait til i was 16 weeks along to even hear the heart beat. Good thing he is a resiliant little thing...

Cass xx
