my child and the whole food issue

bytheway by bytheway Standing(December 2007) (rank 500+)

My partner and i have gone through a horrible time with what our daughter is eating, and is she healthy enough.  We found the answer.  For some time now we have been fighting within ourselves about the fact that all she eats is vegetables and fruit.  Yes, a

child that only eats fruit and vegetables!  We all including other siblings would try to get her to eat meat, but at no avail she only eats bacon.  I am good with that.  I found that praise on her eating habbits have helped a whole lot and now we are on to different foods everyday, if only i knew this a few years ago...PRAISE DEAR PARENTS, PRAISE IS ALL A CHILD NEEDS IN THIS CATAGORY.

Sincerely yours catherine joanne

I think you have some good points, perhaps they will help a few people. Good on you.
My child goes through stages.... I praise and such but I still always offer the foods she does not go for any way, I have found sooner or later she will try it and even decide she likes it

Re: my child and the whole food issue
Unfortunately, no amount of praise can get my  2 1/2 year old to eat veggies and anything else he isn't familiar with. He used to love carrots. He loved it so much he turned a little yellowish at one point. But now, he wouldn't touch it. I've always praised him for eating well, and anything else that is positive, but alas, it doesn't hold as much power anymore. Sometimes we can negotiate one bite of veggie, but that's all.

Re: my child and the whole food issue
i wish my emily would eat vegetables. It doesn't matter whether we praise her or not, she just wont eat them....so i just blame it on the weather man hahaha (not that it's his fault haha)
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers
