Omega 3 Health Benefits

LisaPetrarca by LisaPetrarca Talking(December 2007) (rank 114th)
The benefits of Omega 3 have been life changing for my children, as well as my whole family.  I initially started my son on Omega 3 supplements due to his ADD along with a learning disability, (which unfortunately often goes along with the ADD/ADHD diagnosis).  His memory improvement, mood swings, anger and overall health showed amazing improvement after 2 months of taking the supplements three times a day, everyday.  I then began to research how this supplement benefits the mind and body.  The brain is made up of fatty tissue, Omega 3 is needed to supply nourishment for your brain tissue.  Unfortunately most people do not consume the proper amount of fish weekly that is needed.  The Omega 3 supplements provide the extra amount that benefits your health.  The careful and precise processing of the supplements removes the harmful mercury that is often found in certain types of fish, thus creating a safe and effective product.  Several companies have come out with gummy bear Omega 3 supplements so children who are unable to swallow pills can still receive the benefits.  Studies done by several Universities have shown that increased Omega 3 intake not only benefits the mind but the body as well.  The latest Pittsburgh University study shows the incredible benefits for pregnant women while taking Omega 3 in their growing fetus.   The brain of the baby is growing quickly and the intake of Omega 3 (mercury free) has shown increased intelligence in children.  The research for the general public has shown, increased brain wave activity, lower blood pressure, as well as help for depression, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, blood pressure, allergies and asthma.     Personally, my son with ADD tested out of the special education class after one year of being on the supplements.  His reading level jumped six grade levels.  My son with asthma no longer needs an inhaler.  My husband who has severe allergies no longer needs to take allergy medicine.  I personally have not been sick this year, which is amazing for me because before taking the supplements I was sick constantly.  My mood swings and mild depression has also disappeared.  When choosing a supplement I chose a highly concentrated EPA & DHA supplement that also contained a natural triglyceride (to help maintain the potency during the digestive process).  In closing, the benefits of Omega 3 have produced life changing results for our family. The research, tests and studies have shown amazing benefits without side effects. Start your family today on a path to a healthier future.

Re: Omega 3 Health Benefits

Wow, great information.  My dad has always been a fan.  I eat a lot of fish, but I definitely have trouble focusing and do encounter mild depression frequently.  I am definitely going to check it out. I've ready a couple other articles on Omega 3 Fatty Acids  on www.livestrong.com, an awesome site about health, fitness and general lifestyle changes.  My top two are 5 facts on Omega 3 and Smart Shopping for Omega 3  ... Check them out and thanks again for sharing!

Re: Omega 3 Health Benefits

well said, omega 3,6 and 9 are all so important to our bodies and being as we cant make them ourselves i like you feel its something we all should take.

along with what you already mentioned the omegas contribute to a healthy metabolism( great for a source of good oils in dieting), have anti inflammatory properties ( arthritis, eczema and other skin conditions), depression and general brain function, dry eyes, dry skin the list is endless!

everyone should be taking it! i personally take and give my family flaxseed oil as it contains omega 3,6 and 9, the oil itself makes a lovely salad dressing with some vinegar! my dogs even get it on their food, great for a shiny coat!

xx

This is great advice. I am one of those people who don't consume the correct amount of fish....but being pregnant now i am limited to the intake of fish i can have.... unless i research thoroughly what i can and can't eat.
Omega 3, also helps those with arthritis..... not sure how but it does.
Thanks for sharing, and i am glad your son is doing much better since being on the supplements.

Re: Omega 3 Health Benefits

I think we all could never eat the amount of fish that our bodies truly need, that's why I feel it's so important for everyone to take supplements.  Being pregnant definitely presents a problem as to the type of fish you can eat safely (no mercury).  That's why I was so happy when I read the new research from the University of Pittsburgh regarding pregnant women and the benefits of taking Omega 3 supplements (mercury free).  It was amazing to see how it increases your unborn childs I.Q!  If you get a chance, google it, it's very informative and eye opening, especially considering the many years of being told to completely stay away from fish while pregnant. At least the mercury free supplements are giving all pregnant women a chance to help their unborn child.

Oh yeah,  and you are so right about the arthritis.  I forgot to list that one, it's amazing that one pill can cure and help so many things without any side effects.  I've kind of made it my personal mission to get the word out to everyone.  Thanks for your comments and good luck with your new little one on the way, I miss those days!

Luv Lisa
