Christmas Gifts from the kids

ellamia by ellamia Talking Back(December 2007) (rank 26th)

Hand or foot prints – Just get some practice A4 paper first and use a safe washable paint for the babies or kids and paint their hand or foot which ever you choose to use and press it on the paper. Then when you think you have it right find a nice piece of paper that may have a background design or just plain and repeat what you did with the practice one. Then write on it Merry Christmas to whom it is for and write the year of it and their name. Then you can frame it and give it to mum or dad or even the grandparents.

Christmas Ornaments  – These are great for the tree and a hand made one from a child is specail. You can make them from paper if you know a bit of oragami or just cardboard flat ones. Also another idea is buy a plain glass round christmas decoration and buy some paints and let them paint on the ball. Then wrap it up and give it as a pressent.

Paintings or pictures – Kids love painting and drawing and letting them do this is also very exciting. So get a colouring in book or plain paper and some penicils or crayons or paints and let them do a painting or drawing of their choice and then give that as a gift.

Christmas Cards – Kids can design and make there on christmas cards. You need some cardboard and maybe some bits and pieces like cotton wool, and buttons and things to put on the cards. (you will need to assist child). Then they can colour in with textas, crayons, paint or pencils to decorate.

I hope some of these ideas assist in some easy home made pressents from the kids.

Very good ideas. We also use the kids paintings from Kindy/preschool etc for wrapping paper. Personalised wrapping paper is always cool. Leisa

Also another great idea for the older kids,
Square Ice cream container, fill it with sand, get the kids to either stand in it or put their hand in it to make the indent of their foot or hand, and fill it with plaster of Paris.. Then you wait for the plaster to dry and when done you could get the kids to paint it....

Re: Christmas Gifts from the kids
Hi
My elder sister makes us all a ball for the tree each year.
It always has our name on it and they are different each year
We treasure them
With her own tree she chooses a colour  and then  spray  paints the decorations to that colour'
She has a different theme each year without a lot of cost
She commented that after this year she may have to replace some as they have about 10 years worth of paint on them and are getting really hard to change the colours lol.
Fantastic Ideas
Luv Deb

Re: Christmas Gifts from the kids

This year I am getting mostly gift card, but I bought little brown paper bags to put them in. I'm going to have my son "decorate" the brown bags however he wants.

Great ideas!
