Christmas- Open your heart....

cazza by cazza Young Parent(December 2007) (rank 2nd)
Christmas time can be hard for some families and many will this Christmas have nothing on their tables or even have a Christmas tree.... I hear often that so many others feel that those people should give away their luxurys and then maybe they could afford to have a good Christmas  But for many they have already given up so much... Some families suffer loss of income,. death in the family, etc.....

So As a Community we can Give those that are unfortunate in many Circumstances a Merry Christmas.... and this is how My family do it every year....

. Donate to the Local paper appeal..
.Fundraise at school for  wishing trees- recently we raised money for the Smith Family....
Having your Child give a present and have put under the store Christmas tree......

. Open up your hearts and Homes and invite someone that you know will be along this Christmas, and share the Joys, happiness and laughter that Christmas is all about......... and remember that xmas is a time for sharing and caring......

Dont Judge and think you cant help, as what better feeling to know when you wake up on Christmas day its not just your chidlrens faces with glee you will see, imagine how you have made a another family out there happy as well....

Feel free to add some ideas or thoughts on how you help others have a merry Christmas....

Re: Christmas- Open your heart....

Some great ideas Cazza. When i was living in Sydney and working in bars, i never got to come home for christmas. This was because i would volanteer to work thru the christmas break so that those with kids could enjoy the holidays. What we used to do was we would get everyone who was alone on christmas day, all the over seas travellers, people whos families who lived in other countries and those of us who's families lived too far away to visit, and we would all spend christmas day together.

It wasn't much, but it was nice to be apart of a part of the celebrations. We called it the orphan christmas party.

Great advice Cazza. We all need to do our bit because so many people are worse off than us. Brad went through all his toys & we donated them to the Salvo's & Brad brought a toy to put under the K-mart wishing tree. Mind you he wants so much stuff for Christmas & says oh it's only $200 mum!LOL

Re: Christmas- Open your heart....
I agree matey... I hope my little nieces have their hearts open, I asked my mum to give them the good news that I gave their presents away to a child that was in need.  I have a feeling that they will be very happy about it - they are pretty great girls, I just couldn't help myself, and I can't buy more right now, as our car had a boo boo and need an expensive band aid.

Re: Christmas- Open your heart....

There are so many people out there that are less fortunate then ourselves and it doesn't take much to help bring some cheer into their lives. Well done Cazza, thanks for doing this advice, it is a gentle reminder that, we can make a difference.

Cheers Janice

Re: Christmas- Open your heart....

Great advice honey . . .
Christmas is about caring and giving and sharing. It's sad when people forget what the true spirit of Xmas is about and its great to remind people . My kids always do something for someone else each Xmas as it reminds us all.

Cheers Kellz

Re: Christmas- Open your heart....
Hi
I have a idea that can help others less unfortunate
I will send them my kids and take theirs
Least then i will have grateful children instead of the ungrateful brats i have brought up
It seems no matter what you do it is never good enough lately
Is it just teenagers or what.
I think it is time for them to go out into the community and do a few random acts of kindness that they will not be thanked for
A few acts where people think there has been a miracle
Luv Deb

Re: Christmas- Open your heart....

Excellent advice Cazza, I think about others less fortunate all the time at xmas. I also tell my children that there is a child somewhere in this world that does not receive presents from santa at christmas. When they ask me why i tell them that their parents can not afford to help santa pay for some presents. They will sometimes tell me they want to send a gift to a child who has none. It is great to feel the heart wrench when they say htis. I make sure that no matter how much or less they get that they are grateful for what they have.. They willoften tell me that they are happy with what they have as their is families who have nothing. Great to teach our children that the gift of giving keeps going no matter what, who or where we are!!! Thanks for this advice.

Excellent ahgain Cazza Hugs Michelle xxx ooo
