TOOTH FAIRY TIPS

winja by winja Talking Back(January 8th) (rank 27th)
hi there.
recently my lil girl lost another tooth and being excited about the whole tooth fairy thing.
so i thought id do something abit special for her to start as a tradition and to make things fun so heres a few thinsg i came across that i liked and some of my own ideas.

the tooth fairy letter
i looked on the net and there are some excellent sites for this but the one i loved best is called billybear4 kids, basically you download the file and it has a letter in the program and you type in your childs details and voila! a personalised letter from the tooth fairy for your precious one!  www.billybear4kids.com/post/ToothFairy/Letter.html
thats the easy way.
you could do one yourself if you have time and there is also another site that emails your child a personalised letter when you give them your details  www.toothfairyland.com
there is also a special letter for kids who have had to have a tooth pulled.

the tooth certificate
another thing i came across on my travels was  a tooth certificate, you print out the template and fill in your childs details by hand.

both of these things i think make the morning of finding the tooth fairy has come to visit that bit more exciting and are great to keep and put in baby books to remember their special moments.

the tooth pillow
this is a fun thing to do with your kids when they are getting close to loosing a tooth and can be used again and again.
make a pillow from scraps with your child and add a pocket to the top of it, add glitter and personalise it the way you want by adding the childs name or pictures and when they lose a tooth they can put the tooth in the pillow for the tooth fairy. another good idea is to add a strap to the pillow so you can hang it.

money from the tooth fairy
with most families i know they get a gold coin for each tooth put in a glass or under the pillow when the tooth is collected. i give 50 cents coz im stingy haha
some families give foriegn money for each tooth so when the child gets it they can look up which country it came from and they keep it forever, i thought this was a nice idea. there is also the silver dollar  which they can keep too.

gifts and ideas
there are loads of things you can now buy like tooth boxes and things from the tooth fairy but i try to keep it simple.
i think some good gifts to add with the money if you want to are:

new tooth brush in our childs favourite colour

tooth fairy colouring pages (you can get pritables at alot of the sites and turn them into a mini colouring book)

tooth fairy poem ( also can be found online)

tooth fairy letter (above)

tooth fairy certificate (also see above)

tooth fairy book

a small gift

fairy pjs or tshirt

a nice idea too is to scatter glitter wherever the tooth is placed then in a trail to the window .

thanks for reading!

Cute ideas! I used to have a Tooth Fairy pillow when I was young which I loved. I will probably do this for my daughter too.

Great advice Nat

My boys are always wondering how much they will get for their tooth these days, although the tooth fairy in this house seems to only dispense gold coins..... BUGGER!

Re: TOOTH FAIRY TIPS
I love the foriegn coin idea, as I have got lots from my relatives overseas. I will generally write a little letter from the tooth fairy for Connor, esp if he has lost lost his tooth. I don't know how many of these (from all 3 boys) have been swallowed or just plain lost them somewhere. Then they would get a letter from the tooth fairy and a reduced amount of money for the idea.
