Lessons in Life - Diligence

nell18-3 by nell18-3 Young Parent(January 2008) (rank 2nd)
Nobody likes lazy people

Everyone gets irritated by the people that seem to do little but achieve everything

How much more popular is the Diligent person

Diligence is so much more than Hard Working

Its about being able to put the effort into all you do

So you can be pleased with the result

it is possible to work hard but not seem to get anywhere,
Just as its possible for some to sit back and let others do the work for them but still manage to take the credit
Diligence is more to do with "More speed, less Haste !!!"
not rushing things through but working through steadily and carefully

In wikapeadia we find one of the nouns of diligence is:
constant and earnest effort to accomplish what is undertaken; persistent exertion of body or mind.

How can we teach our children the art of Diligence ?

By making them proud of their achievements
By encouraging them to produce good work on the first attempt not when they are about to give up trying

You cannot be a Diligent person without also acquiring Patience.

Lets teach our child forward planning
If they have for instance an essay to do for school, teach them the planning
To be proud of their work they need to learn the basics

What am I trying to Say ?
What am I trying to make a point about ?
How long should it be ?
How much time should I put into it ?
What do I want to take away from this ?

Teach them to make Bullet Points, the importance of careful hand writing and grammar

Be self critical but in a constructive way of enforcing it
Before handing in, make sure they are pleased with the result,

A Diligent Child is one who will work hard, make an effort, accept the best help on hand, share the load, work as a team .....whatever it takes to be proud of their accomplishment

Diligence is not all about work
Diligence is about the effort you put in to whatever task you set yourself

Children can be diligent at trying to make others happy, making you feel loved, appreciating their home and family,
Being a child, a parent can be proud of
