HEALTH HAZARD IN THE HOME

MELAMOM08 by MELAMOM08 Walking(January 2008) (rank 500+)

Hi I just wanted to share some information with you concerning Health Hazards in the Home. I am currently partnered with a Health and Wellness Inc 500 Company and cannot keep this information to myself.

Did you know that:

  • Your home is
where you are most likely to be exposed to toxic chemicals
  • Infact, the EPA found that in one 5 year study that airborne chemical levels in the home were as much as 70 times higher inside than outside
  • Daily epsosure to hazardous chemicals found in products we use everyday (household cleaners, laundry detergents, personal care products and more) can cause a 54% increase in cancer for women who work at home
  • Cleaning products you use to sanitize daycares have many cancer causing agents, and are directly linked to ADD, ADHD and Asthma

Any of this information is right at your fingertips and as parents we have to be aware of what we are bringing into our homes and exposing our children to. I would suggest going onto the internet and just simply type in "toxins in the home" and you will be floored to know how much information is out there, how many tests that have been done, which we know nothing about and how many brand named products we use on a daily basis.

Since I have converted my home to non toxic products, I can see the difference in my childrens behavior. I can see the difference in my moods, espcially since I used to have frequent migraines. I am also saving money because the products are less expensive and last longer and the company pays me to share the information and I can help.

Thanks for sharing this information. It was certainly an interesting read.

As a mum I tend to be very careful about what I use in and around the home and believe it or not I only have one multipurpose cleaner in my home. Where possible I prefer to go natural and use good old fashioned hot water and elbow power!!

Cheers Kellz

Re: HEALTH HAZARD IN THE HOME
very good advice.
my daughter gets eczma and because of this and my own chemical intolerance  i limit the amount of chemicals in my home and dont use anything other than the basics on things the baby has contact with.

Re: HEALTH HAZARD IN THE HOME
So very true.

We are trying to limit chemicals in our home. My eldest son has some health problems and it makes a difference.

Re: HEALTH HAZARD IN THE HOME
I think, there are quite a lot of toxic substances in our homes from the products we clean with to VOG's in our furniture and paint, even in our food, clothing and makeup.  It would be great for you to add some links with more information about it but i guess ultimately people will make their own decision about what chemicals they use in their day to day lives regardless of how informed they are.  For myself, i try to use as little as possible because that's what works for me.

This is very interesting information, however do you have any links to any facts in regard to the claims you make in regards to cleaning products being cancer causing and being directly linked to ADD ADHD and asthma?
