MY SPACE IS IT OK FOR OUR KIDS?

MY SPACE IS IT OK FOR OUR KIDS?

Okay like many of you, I have a MySpace web page myself but I really wonder if it’s safe for our kids. When I had my old account it was hacked into a total of 15 times and

as I result I was stalked. It ended up they got my hotmail account and nearly wrecked it.

This all started from where they were sending blogs from my name and then writing rude things to my friends, it all got so that bad that was eventually booted of MySpace. The good thing for me this time around is that now I have my profile private bit I’m not sure if its safe and I think it has still been hacked.

I had a friend whose teenager was on MySpace and a 40 old year man chatted to her and he ended up being a paedophile! This scared me as many children have written on MySpace or have their own MySpace web pages.

I went on today and was looking at profiles and there were profiles on there from 16 to 18 yrs old that made me feel rather sick. I mean if you watch what your kids do on MySpace on that’s fine but if you are not sure what they are up to then this could be a problem.

I have also just seen that two girls that who had planned and committed suicide had blogged all about it on MySpace. It brought tears to my eyes just looking at it .

Well all I can say please watch your kids. These days you don’t know who is out here on the net or what could be happening or being said to your children.

BE WE WISE

Thanks Belinda

How very true and how very sad, young kids have no chance today to 'be kids'

Google search provided this page of help, books on keeping your child safe on the internet.

Great advice Bel.

I no longer use myspace for this very reason! Identity theft scares me to death as it is so easy to access all the information IF you have the right programs to do it with.
And also, it is so easy to hide behind a computer and make people think you are a true and genuine person, when really you may not be (you is a generalisation and i dont mean it in a personal way).

So many paedophiles are out there and its scary!
