raising boys

MissKelly by MissKelly Speaking(January 18th) (rank 148th)

I would like to give advice on raising boys. Remeber to include all types of imagination play to their world. When you buy them a tonka truck don't forget they need a doll house also and a baby to go with that rain set. Boys that are given the opportunities to explore everything will become well adjusted men. They will also be more likely to become better fathers and husbands. There is no pink or blue for very young children. I think everyone wants their children to grow up and have a careerr they enjoy. Teaching boys that they can become whatever they want is a great thing. They can become nurses just like we tell our daughters they can become doctors. We should be able in this day and age to treat our sons and daughters equally. Girls should also have a tonka truck and a train set.

Re: raising boys

yes your right its all about balance ...i hardly go into the bigger stores like targert and kmart to get toys ....its laughable that the color pink stands out in the girl isle and blue in the boys! the educational toy shops are better for balance

Re: raising boys

So true.  My boys seem to quite enjoy helping with the domestic chores and why not........they make most of the work!!  They also like dolls and girls playthings but i have noticed that from very early on they gravitated more toward trucks, bikes, mud and the like!  I guess you can't change genetics, just give them the options!

Re: raising boys

good stuff. i think all kids should be able to play with what they want and be treated the same regardless of gender. il teach my son to cook like a do with my daughter my son will clean like my daughter does and grow up witht he same rules and moral standards.

Re: raising boys

Well said....totally agree...

.Unisex toys, don't matter what colour they are, makes no difference to the child who is having fun with it.
