Question:
im trying to loose some baby weight and heard that an all protein diet was a great way to get results fast... has anyone done it or heard what you eat for breakfat lunch and dinner?
or no if its any good?
My Advice:
Losing weight can be very hard for some people to do, as they do not lose the few extra kgs easily.
So many people these days are talking about low carb diets or no junk food diets or excessive exercising in their daily routine. This is not a good idea as it can do more harm than good for your body. These diets that you see advertised on television such as the Tony FErguson Diet, and Celebrity Slim, they are only good for a short term effect. After a while your body starts to feel starved because you are not getting the recommended dietary intake of carbohydrates that your body needs to be properly fueled. Your meals are replaced with milkshake drinks therefore starving your body.
The best diet I have found is MODERATION! It is all about the quantity of the foods you eat, not so much the quality of the foods. And not only that, it works best for the long term weight loss.
Exercise and plenty of fluids is important.... and by fluids I don't mean coke, coffee or tea.... I mean water. At least 6 to 8 glasses of water per day is important to replace all those fluids you have lost during exercise, or even just through weeing.... it helps to prevent dehydration. What you drink on top of that is up to you, but just remember to drink as little tea, coffee and soda's as possible.
Exercise in your diet? Well alot of people don't realise it, but if they do 30 minutes (Without a break) of housework, they are actually exercising. Something as simple as sweeping, then mopping then vacuuming all through the house you could easily take time of 30 minutes to do.....do that 3 times a week minimum and you are burning enough calories to start losing those few extra kilo's....
Stop within that thirty minutes and it's been no good, as it takes a good 25 minutes for your body to actually start to burn calories and get the adrenalin pumping.
Also, a lot of people don't realise that when they start to lose weight, the fat will turn into muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat so my advice to you if you really want to lose weight is don't look at the scales for a good 6-8 weeks when you first start "dieting". When people see a kg or two or 3 extra than what they had when they first started, they stop because they feel they have failed. This is not the case, like i said, muscle weighs more than fat and in the first 6-8 weeks when you are burning fat it will turn into muscle, making you put on a few kilos.... but don't worry! The longer you keep burning fat, you will start to notice the number on the scales decreasing.
Some tips for you to follow are:
- Drink 6-8 glasses of water a day
- Exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes a time at a minimum of 2-3 times a week
- for every kg of bodyweight, you need to have 0.75gm of protein
- Eat smaller meals and have meals on a smaller plate and eat at least 5 small meals a day
- Moderation is the key and you are allowed to eat those "naughty" foods every now and then!
I hope this has helped you a little.
Cheers
