Here is what we did this last year. Our oldest decided he was to old to go trick or treating so we are entering a new stage and it was sad as a mom to have lost one to not dressing up and going out. The younger one did go
out in scary costume! So My oldest and I passed out the candy at home. He was dressed in scary costume for the older kids who like that And I was dressed up like the tooth fairy for the younger kids. We looked out to see wich one of us would answer the door. When I answered the door I also told each child "Remember to brush your teeth after you eat the sweets". The parents loved it and I was a big hit with the younger croud. My oldest did get to dress up and answer the door and scrare a few older kids and did not have to go out and be ashamed for being to old to trick or treat. We also gave out a mixture of sweets with stencils, scatch and sniff stickers, crayons, bugs, and other things that were not too small to choke on and were great for kids who had allergies to certain foods or did not want the sweets. This is something we will do again. I think next year each boy will come up with their own thing. It doesn't always have to be scary.
