i just wanted to say that the best thing i learnt was ROUTINE.. children learn by routine.. that way they are comfortable and know whats coming next... so this is what i did with Charlotte.. the same thing everyday for nighttime sleep. We went for a walk, then she had
her bath then her bottle and bed... the only problem was that i wasnt consistent during the day. Daytime i would rock her to sleep then nighttime she would usually fall alseep on the bottle...then id wonder why she was waking up up to 4 times a night and not going back to sleep till she got a bottle (even though she wasnt hungry)... then i got a "lightbulb moment".. i needed to be consistent..day AND night.. so now during the day we have a routine and when its naptime i place her in her cot with teddy.. place her sheets over her then leave the room...let her cry for a while then go in reassure her without talking then leave the room... waited awhile then again... eventually she fell asleep.. then did this again next nap time.. a week later i could put her in the cot, fix her up (place sheets back on her) then she was asleep, also about the night wakings.. she can now self settle herself back to sleep because of going to sleep on her own EVERY sleep time.. The first couple of times i was ready to give in but i gave us a week to try it out and im glad i stuck it out... i honestly didnt think it was going to work for us so i hope that i gave YOU some hope...
