Re: Is this depression or isolation?
anonymous

Question:

Hi, Sorry this isn't a more upbeat topic but...

I have 2 children, 2 and almost 4 years. I have been a very active and happy mum but I feel in the last month or

two increasinly lonely and upset. I keep thinking, it's just wintertime and it's hard to get out but I am now considering selling our house and moving closer to the city because I think I may be too isolated.

I feel drained and confused because I don't really know what's wrong and we were doing so well all along, but at the moment I am miserable!

Am I depressed or will this pass?

Do others feel like this?

My Advice:

Depression can sometimes be one of the most hardest to diagnose. My case worker stated that if there are on going feelings of deep sadness and crying every day for

longer than two weeks then there might well be a case of depression. You need to seek help from your GP and or Child clinic nurses(they can be sometimes more quick to diagnose and then refer to psychologist) It is important to realize you may need help and not to make any rash decisions with regard to your family or posessions(selling house etc)

You are not going mad you may just need a little help for the moment. Sometimes depression can be hard for the sufferer to acknowledge and then they think they can tuff it out.......  Not a great idea, the sooner you get help the quicker you will get back to your old self. First things first go seek medical help

Re: Blue

I remember when I was first diagnosed with depression, I felt nothing but a huge relief, simply because I thought I was going insane, of course it didn't help that I had someone telling me I was actually mental, but for a doctor to tell me there was nothing wrong with my mentality other than severe reactive depression because of emotional abuse. I started to once again feel human

I would always recommend seeing a dr, just to confirm what you are dealing with, medication is not the best option for everyone and it certainly isn't the only option, just one of many you can discuss with someone qualified and knows what they are talking about.

Re: Blue

good adive. And there is no shame in finding out. There are millions of people just like you and we all know them or are them so dont be embarrased and just find out what a professional thinks. It wont hurt to find out if it is a simple chemical imbalance or just a passing thing.

I sure hope the anno person reads this advice to all.
