Taking Time For You |

The other night I had an opportunity to get together with 41 other women to have a "Mom's Night Out." These were women I knew from blogging and they had invited their friends as well. I can't tell you the last time I went out without my family.
Even though it was a late night (almost 1 a.m.), I felt like a whole new woman. I noticed several things. It seemed like we were all following the same unwritten rules.
- We didn't talk about our kids. We talked about our interests and hobbies and trips we had taken. We talked about food and wine and lots of people told prior "Girl's Night Out" stories of fun times in the past. It's not that talking about your kids is a bad thing. It's just that I find myself talking about my kids all the rest of the time in my life. It's nice to realize that I had interests before my kids and that I can still have a conversation that doesn't revolve around children's crazy days.
- There was a lot of Girl Power and energy in that room full of women. And if you know anything about girl power, you know that positive energy will give you a boost. I spent an hour talking to an extremely successful businesswoman who gave me great advice and tips about things I can do to make my business more efficient. I left there on top of the world. Positive energy breeds more positive energy.
- I got to meet people I never would have met if I hadn't left my house. LOL. I never go ANYWHERE. It was so great to enter a room full of women from different backgrounds and be able to learn about others.
I got home and I was ready to face parenting again because I had given myself some "Me" time. So go out and get together with some of your girlfriends. If there are people you know from Minti that live near you, plan a "Girl's Night Out." Leave behind the weight of mommyhood and find renewed energy from sisterhood. It worked for me.
