Baby Powder With Disposables? I say no.

pfallerj by pfallerj Proud Parent(August 2006) (rank 100th)

Today's First Time Parenting Tip - Don't use baby powder if you're using disposable diapers

Nowadays, disposable diapers do a fantastic job of taking the moisture away from the baby and locking it inside the diaper. That's what baby powder does too, but if you use baby powder with

disposable diapers, it actually keeps more moisture closer to your baby's skin, which works contradictory to its purpose.

If you're using cloth or some diaper that doesn't lock away moisture, keep using the baby powder or butt paste to prevent diaper rash and keep your baby comfortable.

Cornflour

I have never used talc any way as it is highly carcinogenic. Cornflour has been used in our house for ever. I put dried flowers in the same container to give it a nice smell and I only ever used it to keep between the folds of skin around the knees ankles, elbows, bum cheeks etc., dry.

Talc and disposables..
I don't have any problems with the talc, but it may be because I get my mum to send me a powder from Australia that has some nappy rash cure stuff in it.. Sorry can't give you the name I don't remember it off the top of my head...

Talc and disposables..

Yes it is thank you.. The name was on the tip of my tounge but I just could not think of what it was.... This works wonders for my son, I don't have a nappy rash problem with him but if there looks like the slightest bit of red it works fantastic, usually the red is gone by the next nappy change.....   Only  use it when I need to other wise I don't use anything....

But I have to make sure I put in the order with my mum because I can't get it here and it takes about three weeks from the time my mum posts it to me...

No powder
I never use powder. I am worried that the baby will inhale it which I don't think would be nice. As for modern day nappies - I have heard they do quite well. And what I have heard of modren cloth is they are of great quality and people tend to change them quicker too.

No powder, I agree!!
there is stuff called baby powder liquid(its made from Huggies) and it's reccommened by doctor's. they can't inhale it because it's liquid.. but i do agree.. i do not use the regular baby powder, it cause's breathing problems if the baby inhale's it, also increase's the risk of SIDS

sounds good...
That sounds good, but if the diaper that you're using give's your baby a diaper rash, then you have to use the baby powder(liquid i would perfer, not the orignal kind) penetan, or whatever diaper rash creme.
