Swaddling your baby

ClayCook by ClayCook Minti Founder(March 5th) (rank 31st)

Swaddling is a great way for your baby to feel safe and secure, and yes they do sleep swaddled.

We swaddled our first child for a few months after birth (from memory), and I plan to swaddle our second (due in 2-3 weeks).

Here is a video on how to swaddle....

Why swaddle your infant baby?

  1. helps your baby sleep
  2. if your baby sleeps, you can sleep ;)
  3. warm and secure, like the womb
  4. limits startle reflexes - baby wont scratch itself
  5. reduces risk of SIDS
  6. reduces colic

Did this with all my children too, and it works to a tea. I do recommend this to anyone.

Re: Swaddling your baby

My kids loved being swaddled, but only for the first 2 months. After that they started wiggling and trying to escape. At that time, I only swaddle with their arms free. And then by the middle of 3 months, I don't swaddle anymore. It's a tough few nights getting them to sleeping and getting used to their arms free at night without the swaddle.

Re: Swaddling your baby

Alex hated to be swaddled and Charlie loved it to bits, if she was she screamed and if Alex was he screamed. my daughter still at 4 loves it too and in winter i get her blankie and still wrap her up.

I think you should be shown these things at the hospital too. Mind you they do have all in ones that do the same thing in australia called snug as a bug. ( not sure if they are worldwide) but charlie had one and she loved it.

Re: Swaddling your baby

glad you have heard of "snug as a bug", the creator of this product was actually a lady who had he first child the same time as we had Codi. Rachel kept in touch with her a little and we were happy to hear that she had created this product and won a few awards in Australia for it :)

love it when people create things and they work :)

My oldest loved to swaddled and really helped him to sleep so much better, yet my youngest hated it.......he would do anything to get out of his wrap.......he still hates to conform to anything......lol.
