Road Test: Nature Babycare Eco Friendly Disposable Nappies.

monyq83 by monyq83 Young Parent(April 16th) (rank 12th)

Im always curious to try out new brands of disposable nappies that are on the market. Especially when they are eco-friendly.

So I thought Id take the trouble out of umming and arring about these new nappies and write a review on them.

Firstly Id just like to

say congratulations to Marlene Sandberg from Sweden for designing a nappy that is friendly to our environment.

Wherever possible, they use all natural materials, and I found it quite interesting to read that the absorbent part in the middle is actually made of corn. Who would have thought!

The outer layer, however, feels kinda wierd to touch, but I found that with other eco-friendly brands as well.

The nappy sits rather slim and non-bulky when worn, and doesnt puff up quite as much as other brands.

They are quite avaragely priced, and I didnt find them to be too expensive for a pack of 32 nappies.

One down side though, is one night it took 2 bottles of milk for my son to go to sleep. About 2hrs later, he woke up crying because he was covered in a pool of urine. Those are not very good odds when you want a nappy to last all night.

On the up-side, the nappy has won silver prize in the mother and baby awards for 06/07, it also won highly commended, and in Junior Pregnancy and Baby these nappies were selected ''Editors Choice."

They also have many other things in their range including baby wipes, disposable bibs, cotton buds, breast pads, baby toiletries (shampoo, lotions etc) nappy crems and even women's sanitary items. Every last product of theirs is environmentally friendly, and I have made it my mission to switch to their other brands next time I go shopping.

In all I'd probably give Nature Babycare disposable nappies a 3 out of 5. Im yet to find a nappy that can beat Huggies, but give it another 6mths or so for them to research new technologies and materials, and I think Huggies are gonna have a great challenge on their hands.

Oh, one thing I should point out that another mum who uses these nappies also said, is that with boys you may have to buy a size larger.

And go easy on the grip tabs, pull too hard if ur babys a wriggler and they come straight off!

Hi Money,

Good on you for road testing some nappies . . I have never brought any eco-brands mainly because I have been told that they tend to not hold as much and Sumara still wakes 2-3 times a night in needs of fluids. If we had to completely change her every time we would never get her back to sleep . .

Cheers Kellz

I wasn't in the eco-friendly era with my children, but I know that sooner or later I will have grandchildren that will need "Nappies". It's good to know what is out on the market currently.

i think you just confirmed what Becca was saying, they must work better on younger babies rather than older ones. Glad you like them :)

had the same probs, thought hey cool a nappy that is decent price and not as bad for the environment, but they suk at night, used em for a but just for the day nappies and huggies at night. would probably be ok for the younger babies cause of the night changes. ::)'s chickie coolies article.

Re: Road Test: Nature Babycare Eco Friendly Disposable Nappies.

Im not sure why this article has rated so poorly..but anyway..Great article mony. I used to wonder about other nappies when my child used them but everytime I tried a newone, it was rubbbish. I gave up after a while and just stuck to what worked best at the time. Articles like these would be so handy for those new mums that are looking for someone else who has tried and tested the nappies for them. Again, nice work
