Smile even if you are sad or un happy

momof8gr8kids by momof8gr8kids Speaking(April 2008) (rank 241st)

I have recently discovered that the past few weeks with all the hormonal problems at work and the back stabbing and gossip, that everyone is just long in the face. This used to be a fun happy place to work. So I decided that no matter how much people made

me angry, I was going to walk around with a smile on my face, I was not going to let their moods affect mine. In the past few days, I have noticed that when I smile, people around me smile, they are now coming up to me and talking about happy stuff. Moods are changing and just maybe some of the back stabbing and gossip will end where the smiles begin. So smile!!!!

Re: Smile even if you are sad or un happy

I believe if you are a happy person then you will attract like-minded people. However, it's healthy to express your feelings; it reduces stress. Pretending that everything is okay may affect your health in the long run as dis-ease is exactly that, your mind and body not at ease. Ignoring silly people is an intelligent move however.

Re: Smile even if you are sad or un happy

You will often find that smiling is a natural reaction to us feeling good about something.

It is because our brain tells our body what it needs to do to create a smile that we are able to do exactly the reverse...that is to say we can trick our mind into thinking that we are happy.

Go ahead...try it...SMILE for 5 seconds and see the reaction you get.

I have used this throughout my life and have tried to share it with my kids.

Just recently my daughter made the decision to move out of home and I reminded her that all she had to do to reverse sad times is close her eyes, smile and imagine writing the word Daddy.

We can use it as a for of positiveness in many situations. I even use it on the rifle range as a form of mental preperation.

So get out there, face the world and smile for no apparent reason.

Smile at a stranger, smile at your partner, kids, an ant, whatever...it doesn't matter...just keep smiling
