Well Jade and I attended a 6year old birthday party , 6 year old mums name is Kaye she formerly worked in child care. lucky for her daughter and friends.Any way Kaye had set up a few tables aka. work stations, one had play dough which she made, clever woman.
In two lots. One purple one pink. Kaye had bought some play dough tools from a cheap shop for next to nothing. So on that work station she layed crepe paper pre painted with flowers so it can be thrown out later and places the play and tools down.
This is an excellent playdough recipe which is fun to make and never fails to provide amusement on a rainy afternoon!
You will need:
1 cup plain (all-purpose) flour
½ cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup water with food coloring added
1 teaspoon vanilla essence (optional but it makes the playdough smell nice!)
Put all the ingredients into a large saucepan, and stir over a medium heat until the dough forms into a ball. Allow to cool, and then knead until smooth.
Store in an airtight container (a Ziploc bag with the air pressed out is good).
Second station had creape paper layed down too. Also pre-cut crowns in pink and purple. some glitter in two tubs, some pre cut decals and kids craft glue.
Next station: I got to face paint, so i stuck to some basic designs as there were 40 kids and another girl sprayed the kids hair pink and purple.
All food was made pink and purple too, food dye is fantastic. This was all done with the help of some friends too but it proved a party the kids wont forget. Cant wait til Jade is old enough to throw parties like these.
Now this seems like it would cost a fortune but it didnt just time. I can tell you ALL the kids loved it, not one was not busy the whole time. I couldnt think of how you could keep as many kiddies occupied, but it was done.
