2 months before Christmas, Birthdays, Mothers day, Fathers Day etc we place a small box on the counter & when ever catalogues arrive, we all have fun as a family going through them & cuttingout what we would like for our special day, we each have a box with our
own name, We also write on scarps of paper items we really would love, But the best thing is you have 2 months to change your minds, so many items get pulled back out & at the end there is usually only about 5 items or so that each oneof us would love so who ever is buying for them has a good chance of buying something that is really wished for & making all our lives easier. It is fun to shop for ourselves but still give the buyers choices or they can still pick something totaly out of the box & atleast dad does not get another tie or socks again that is not needed
