Funeral Flowers wilt away

milko-fats by milko-fats Speaking(May 2nd) (rank 405th)

When I go to a funeral of someone very special. I do love to see all the flowers but I get annoyed that they just wilt away. I have started instead of sending flowers to the family who are left I buy a special pendant from the internet that I

get the person that has passed aways face etched on the one side then on the other side I get a verse etched that I read somewhere one day which is "If I'm in heaven b4 u r I'll carve ure name in every star so everyone on earth can see how much u really mean to me" Sometimes I have had two pendants etched with half the verse on each for the parents so when joined together they will all be one again.. I think it is beautiful as it is something that they can keep with them always.

What a lovely gesture... I adore flowers, however I do hate to see them die and wilt too.  I prefer to give the family of the person who has passed away a living plant; they can keep it at the grave, or in their own garden to remind them of their loved one.  Your idea is a lovely personal touch though, and I think it is great!

That's a really unique and beautiful idea for a funeral present.

When Mum died we asked for donations to the Stroke Foundation instead of Flowers, i think there are so many charities and worthwhile causes now days it is a good idea to do this especially if you are not a close enough relative to give a pendant.

I also think of how the money could be spent and I hope it's a long way into the future but I've already told my family that I wish any money that would have been spent on flowers to be donated to charrity, I've seen this in the brevement columns a lot recently. Your gift of a pendant is wonderfull as it's a perminant reminder for the loved ones.   Lisa x
