Mummy, My tummy hurts...

Ravenheart by Ravenheart Talking(May 5th) (rank 200th)

Tummy pains are very common in children and can be caused by a vary of things.

The tummy area is made up of many organs, the stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, kindney, spleen, ureters, bladder and nearly all the s ex organs for females. So when your child says, My tummy hurts it would be any of these causeing the discomfort... often people just assume its the stomach thats to blame of these tummy pains.

Tummy pains can be caused by a physical problems and by emotions problems.

Anxiety is a VERY common reason for tummy pains and aches. Whe your under stress your body increases the squeezing action of the intentines causing pain. Most emotional causes will be obvious like if your child is starting school and is nervous, if you cant identify the reason speak to your doctor about it.

There are many illnesses that cause tummy pains, measles and mumps, indigestion, asthma, swollowed object..lol.., reactions to medication or food allergy, this list goes on. If the tummy pain is accompanied by diarrhoea or vomiting it could be an infection in the bowel or in sever cases appendicitis, please see your doctor if the tummy pain is more then just indigestion.

Some food cause tummy pains, these food also cause gas.. things like beans and cabbage. Also its common to have "after-party" pains from all the excitment and lollies..

Ways to ease a mild tummy ache are-

  • sipping warm water
  • being patted or rubbed on the back
  • warm bath
  • cuddles
  • gripe water

Just remember if the tummy ache is persistant please see your doctor.
