Start Solids

Question:

i have 3 month old and i am starting to think about solids for her.

i would like to make her food at home and want to make some food ahead of time-before i go back to

work. any suggestions on what to introduce first?

My Advice: I had to make all my own food due to a baby with allergies, so I consider I might know a little.  Start with one food at a time, and a small amount. My girl even started with issues with rice cereal. Try one food at a time and a tiny amount to te,st for issues with allergies. Remember it usually can take upto 6 attempts at each food for them to learn you are not poisoning them I'm not talking allergies here, that first initial facial expression is priceless. Start with more liquid. My little girl loved anything with pureed corn and fruit.

You need: An electric steamer.. Save hours  and lets you do a week at a time.

Bamix - mine came with a sealed container and munching blade

Multi holed freezer container- lets you blend a single or mixed food. I did try fancy little containers but found I ended up with so many containers in my freezer. The beauty of this method of container is they have a 20ml hole, you fill up all the little holes with your blended food.   After they are frozen you leaver them out and put them in those plastic bags. I was able to come up with a selection of tastey bites and not waste too much food to start with.

I just needed to give myself some cooking time, my bub was especially fond of steamed pears and apple.

Be warned, you will only do it once, steamed meat is terrible, shallow fry was great.

Enjoy
