Re: Shallow breathes
Asked by Amerlinwinga
Question:
Katherine has been really sick. I have taken her to the doctors this morning and have given me Amoxil for the tonsils and some PredMix for her asthma.
She is still breathing really rapid and
very short.... Have vapouriser in the room.
Does anyone have anymore suggestions to ease her breathing.....?????
She hasn't gone blue around the mouth yet but am aware it might happen....
Please any hints will be great.

My Advice:
Hi honey,
I am so very sorry to read that little Katherine is sick, poor thing. My heart goes out to her, there is nothing worse than when our kids are ill . .
Here is my thoughts and suggestions.
Try elevating the head of her bed - As adults, when we find it hard to breath what is the first thing we do? We sit up as its our gut instinct. WE do this because it takes the pressure of our lungs and therefore often helps, this is why suggest that you elevate the bed head.
TURN off the vapouriser - I am NOT a huge fan of these things as they create dampness in the room, this then leads to unseen mould and then the mould effects the breathing . . Talk about a vicious cycle. Instead of using a vapouriser I use the plug in variety which is available from ALL pharmacy's and most supermarkets.
Also you can purchase a can of Lemsip Room Spray with in Menthol based, this spray is fantastic and I use it often with GREAT success . . As you all know Sumara has had breathing probs since she was born and we found the Lemsip spray a life saver . .
Use Vicks Chest Rubs - Even though the problem is her tonsils and breathing the use of Vicks will also help. Make sure that you put it on from the waist to the neck both on her tummy and her back.
I really hope this helps you and poor Katherine out. Being sick is no fun, I know as I am currently the Flu myself . .
Good luck
Cheers Kellz
