Becoming a Egg Donor and the first stage.... |
|
|
Becoming an egg donor.
Women who have a great supply of available eggs and are willing to donate them altruistically to those in need, may consider becoming a egg donor. Donors are ideally aged between 21 and 38 years of age.
Ideally donors will have finished their
own family and want to help pregnancy for another woman.
There are a few test to be considered to becoming a donor. Social and medical history should be provided at the time and many blood test is need to be done before acceptance.
The screening test, donor will need to do is:
blood group
Hep B
Hep C
cystic fibrosis
syphilis
chlamydia
chromosome analysis
HIV status
The pregnancy rate of donor egg treatment is directly related to the age of the donor, number and quality of donated eggs...... The process is a relatively simple proceedure but the other side of it is the most hardest. You will find its a complex emotional process and you will need alot of extensive counselling. Consultation is undertaken to ensure both donors and recipients have considered all the issues. Donors may be 'known' to the recipients (possibly a family member) or 'de-identified'.
The donor must agree to potentially being contacted by any children conceived from the donation after they have turned 18 years of age.(In Australia)
