Teaching your child to write their name
Teaching your child to write their name is a lot of fun. It is also very rewarding.
They was we were taught when i was at TAFE doing Cert 3 in TA (Education Assistant) was this and
it is so simple.
First they do need to know their ABC and it can be done in the same manner as their name.
Firstly you do need a PC and printer. Unless your writing is very good (you don’t want to teach your kids your ways of writing as some state school have a certain way to do their script, here in Perth it is Victorian modern cursive) also a laminator is handy but you can contact the page (it isn’t as sturdy) and whiteboard markers.
Write your Childs name on the page in a script. I would suggest new times roman if you can’t find the Victorian modern cursive, also ring your local school and ask them if they have a set font they use. I do know some schools don’t have a set font either.
Laminate the page and let your child at it. This has taught my 4 year old to write her name and she has a long name (8 letters) so it’s been great for her. It has also been wonderful for helping my son write who is autistic.
To clean the page all you need is a wet cloth or paper towel. Don’t use heavy cleaners on it like meths or turps as it will deterierate the plastic?
