Get Your Baby Sleeping All Night in by 8 Weeks

newdadscliffnotes by newdadscliffnotes Speaking(June 26th) (rank 500+)
From Cliff Notes for the Stay at  Home Dad  http://newdadscliffncom/otes.blogspot.   Before Marley was even born we got this book called Baby Wise. This magical book is supposed to teach you how to get your baby on a feeding, awake time, sleeping routine, that will get
them to sleep in the first eight weeks. Sounds great doesn’t it? After the first month or so we didn’t think that there was any way Marley would be sleeping eight hours at time. She would wake up every few hours most nights… but, she would always go back to sleep fairly easy. As hard as it was to keep Marley on a set schedule, with feeding, play time, and sleep time…we kept to the schedule. Sure enough, by the eighth week she was sleeping at least eight hours most nights. Getting real, good sleep, and even some alone time together with the wife, is definitely something that I have been missing lately. If you are getting ready to have a baby, or just had one and having sleep problems, you should get Baby Wise. You, your family,  and your baby’s happiness is worth the time it takes to read this book.

This advice would have been really good if you had written about your personal experience with the book as in how  long did your little baby take to settle into the routine. And how it affected the family during the 8 weeks. etc.

Nice link and I am sure the book is good, but I prefer the advice that you wrote first hand to this one.  Besides, kids should set their own routine, and it is more relaxing to work around it (from a mother's point of view), than to strive for something that may not suit your child and stress yourself out.

Be aware that much of the advice contained in this book such as feeding by the clock may severely harm your chances of breastfeeding. Practices such as feeding by the clock can cause you to have supply problems.

I would be very interested to hear how many people used this method and were able to breastfeed for as long as they wanted to of if people weaned early because of supply problems.

My wife has had no problems at all breastfeeding, and as for the schedule... i the book it says not to stick to a clock schedule but more of a general time like every two to three hours, and to feed when its comfortable for you.  My wife was also pumping all the time to keep up the milk production, and storing milk for when she goes back to work.  We have lots of friends who recomended to us that we read this book.  The book really does work for most who follow its instrustions.  Mainly the book just teaches you how to keep a schedule, not just feed the baby every time they cry... there need to be some kind of routine.  But what do I know I'm just a dad

I can't stress enough the importance of a good routine. While I haven't read this book, having a routine has worked for me. All my babies have slept/sleep overnight. The earliest was 5 days(hows that for luck) and the lastest was 12 weeks.
