Advice for first time mothers

Vik by Vik Standing(August 2006) (rank 500+)
As first time mothers, everyone thinks that they have the right to push their advice on to you, and that their advice is always right. Even a simple walk down the street turns into perfect strangers telling you;  the baby should have another blanket on, you should never give the
baby a dummy, the baby is too small you should give him formula, etc etc.  I know these people, family and friends are all well meaning but can make a new parent feel incompetent, and thats all we need mixing with our hormones.  Instead of listeng to advice that is not wanted, and also to not offend the advice giving person. Carry a notebook and pen with you and when they start to carry on about what you are doing wrong, reach into your bag, produce the notebook and hand it over.  Whilst smiling nicely, say that it sounds like great advice and you would hate to forget so instead of telling me please write it down.  They feel great knowing that their advice is so important to you, you don't offend them by telling them that you will do as you please, and you can flick through the book whenever you like, i'm sure there would be a few things that will make you laugh, and also maybe some great advice!!!!

I was told advice will come from everywhere, just smile, let most of it go in one ear and out the other, but I love the notebook idea I agree, good for a laugh a few years down the track lol
