Milk and Eczema

Re: Milk and Eczema
Asked by MadMel

Question:
I think Jaidans eczema may be made worse by milk. So to test the theory I stopped him drinking it all together for the last 3 days and his rash is almost gone! So is this just a coincidence or can milk make that much of a difference? If so what do I give him instead? He wont drink soy milk as I tried that once...

My Advice:
I have a seven year old who went thru the same thing. Stopping the milk did reduce the episodes of eczema. I now give him Pediasure (powder in water), twice a day, which is lactose free and provides excellent nutrition to the child.

Re: Milk and Eczema

This is always a possibility.

I would advise following any course of action with a discussion with your pediatrician /health visitor /plunkett nurse or whoever cares for your childs health.  This way they may be able to help you hone in on what exactly is causing the problem and what substitutes can realistically be used.

Peace

Something I had never thought about and unfortunately I can't remember who said it : Human beings are the only species who continue to drink milk once they've been weaned!

Re: Milk and Eczema

My eldest son was sensitive to milk (severe eczema). He would get a rash on his chin when it spilt on him.

We tried soy but that was't any better.

He is now 5 and has a limited amount of milk. His eczema is no longer noticeable.

Good advice, its's a struggle. My girl is 22 months old and was on a formula for allergies from the Dr. She is now tolerating Lactose free milk - Zymil full cream. I'm not sure if your child is off formula yet,  but give this milk a try if this is not their ownly source of nutrients. It tastes nearly like real milk and is easy to buy at the store. xx
