Re: I need help in getting a routine.
Asked by Rukia
Question:
I am Lazy. I will admit that. I always put things to another day and its pi**ing me off. I want to learn how to get a routine and stick to
it. I want to teach my kids to clean better and be better.
We are currently going through and throwing away all our crap that we have been given over our 8 years of being together and trying to sort things out.
I HAVE NEVER been taught to clean or anything like that so all your help is needed. I have to start to do things right. We have decided to move our pc and tv in our other room so we will eat at the table and cook and clean the kitchen and still be able to talk to the kids and ect.
Please PLease please help. even if ya MM me.
Thanks
My Advice:
Hey matey, ask DA she has seen my house at its worst. Ive never been taught to cook or clean either.
Since she came to stay with me a while ago, things around here have changed. She got me into a new routine and slowly but surely I have managed to lift my game to the point where if I get a call from DoCS saying they are coming around in 20mins, I can have the house pretty much blinged by then.
Ive found the best things to have worked for me are;
1. De-clutter. It might sound stupid, but once I decluttered my house, I found it more enjoyable not to mention easier to keep clean.
2. Organise yourself. Visit kmart, ikea, the reject shop, howards storage world to name a few, and buy yourself some of those massive plastic boxes. You know the big ones that you can stick kids toys in? I have one of those in the kids room, and one near the back door (as there is a big opening near my back door where they play.) Toys arent allowed in the loungeroom anymore, and if they do its only one or two toys each at a time. I also bought hanging shelves for all our wardrobes. It freed up some much needed space in my drawers and things are alot easier to find. I hang the clothes I wear most often in the hanging shelves and in the wardrobe, and the clothes I wear less often are in the drawers so I dont have to bend.
3. I have invested in some good quality cleaning products. Have a think of what household chemicals you use most often. I find that my most used chemicals are washing up detergent, floor cleaner, laundry detergent, and a disinfectant surface spray. Ive found a seller that sells these in concentrate form and in bulk and Ive found not only does it make my job so much easier because I have to scrub less since it is concentrated, but also I buy less of it as well. Granted I spend a bit more initially, but you end up saving money in the long run because you are using less of it.
I hope some of these suggestions help you and also as Izzy said, check out flylady. Im pretty sure there is a Minti group on here for her too.
