Cradle Cap, Nappy Rash and The Dreaded 'N' Word

mrshappy by mrshappy Walking(July 21st) (rank 500+)

I was just reading another article online about different rashes and how to identify and treat them which has prompted me to write my three little pieces of advice which have worked for me.

Cradle cap, if your little one has this on their scalp, as my second daughter did, just gently apply some vaseline and leave overnight. In the morning just bathe gently in warm water .

Nappy Rash : Cornflour! One of the BEST pieces of advice I was given as a first time mum. One of my girlfriends daughter suffered from this constantly and she was prescribed all sorts of creams and lotions until she was given the cornflour tip.  I would just use an empty herb shaker jar and voila, refillable talc replacement.

Now to everyones favourite, the dreaded 'N' (dare I say it....NO) word. I learnt very quickly, through another of my girlfriends first daughter, that if that's all they hear, then of course that's what you're going to get back so some of my alternatives are, stop, wait, later and maybe.

Re: Cradle Cap, Nappy Rash and The Dreaded 'N' Word

I think this is very helpful advice for many mum's.....with my two children i vaseline and the old olive oil for cradle cap......and cornflour for nappy rash....the 3 products  worked wonders. Never had a need for something for the  dreaded " N ".

Well done!

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers Janice

Re: Cradle Cap, Nappy Rash and The Dreaded 'N' Word

A great one for cradle cap that i used was a nit comb run gently through my daughter's hair. She actually liked it and fell asleep while i was doing it. I didn't like the idea of putting oil or vaseline in her hair.

Grat article which i'm sure mothers will find interesting

Re: Cradle Cap, Nappy Rash and The Dreaded 'N' Word

great advice, I have heard of the cornflour but for us it was lucas' paw paw ointment. Within 24 hrs from first noticing redness and applying it, It was cleared up immediately, but obviously prevention is the best cure, so regular changing and proper cleansing of the area. Not  sure about cradle cap as we never had that problem but will definetly keep it in mind for next time round.

Thanks for sharing.

Karen. xx.
