Early Learning Book for Preschoolers

Izzy by Izzy Minti Founder(July 28th) (rank 9th)

I came across this book, Everything for Early Learning, Preschool by American Education Publishing  at the store the other day and decided to get it in order to help my 3 year old review his letters, learn his lower case letters and learn to write. For $7.95 USD, I

find it to be the most useful activity book so far for this age. It has 320 pages (black and white) and includes one page of stickers. It has activities to help in reading, math, sizes and shapes, numbers and letters and sounds. The pages are perforated for ease of use. I also bought a book of Disney's Cars stickers to help motivate my boy.

The first night I introduced it, I ripped 3 pages for us to do and he loved it. I gave him stickers for each page he completed. The next day, he asked to do the "big book", so we did 5 pages. Each page averaged 5 minutes for us to do and the stickers just added to the fun.

My son goes to preschool, so he is learning a lot. But I want to supplement his learning and work on the things that he is having trouble with, namely, lower case letters and number recognition. But as I found out, this book has a lot more to offer, such as position words, sequence, rhymes, time and other concepts.

For moms like me, who want to teach our preschoolers a lot but don't exactly know where to start, this is a great starting place. This book is a must have! Just look at my son's first attempt on his own writing the letter A (upper and lower case).

Re: Early Learning Book for Preschoolers

I think as parents it is our responsibility to be in charge of our children's education; which means participating in it and encouraging it in anyway possible, not waiting on teachers.  I am glad that you have found something that works for you, thanks for sharing.

Re: Early Learning Book for Preschoolers

Having In laws that are teachers, they have incouraged me to get things like this for my kids. They say it makes their job easier if it is done right. ie not teaching a child to write their name in capitals. LOL

It is so good for a child to do as well. When ever ppl ask me what to get my kids ofr Bdays and xmas I say these books.

I agree. It's better to teach the correct way now based on what they are expected to do down the road.

Re: Early Learning Book for Preschoolers

Great article and advice.. It is good our children to have this sort of fun at home as its a easier transition for them at school some teachers would say..

I have many books similar to this for chloe...

It's always good to have transition easier, doesn't it? Going to a new environment to meet new people and learn a whole new 'schedule'/routine is hard enough as it is.  This way the little kids can feel at ease in pre-K and Kindergarten.

Thanks.

Re: Early Learning Book for Preschoolers

I find similar aids here in the UK a great support for what E is learning in school, but we also started using such books before she started school.

Recently I found a series of books that covered geography, math skills and games, letter formation, language skills and a variety of other things that E is learning about.  It was aimed at age 5-6 according to the cover and cost me £1 per book.

E loves them and we also are having hours of fun with them using stickers and simple words that she has already learnt to read as the rewards.
Peace

Re: Early Learning Book for Preschoolers

I think this kinds of books are great isn't it? I was suckered into buying a whole series of books when my son was just a baby by someone going door to door. While the books are great, it's all about reading to the child and so not much fun at all.  It definitely holds a child's attention when the learning is 'by doing'.
