Fun Scrapbooking for the little ones to do!!

nabutters by nabutters Speaking(August 2008) (rank 273rd)

Well i have started up a book with Myah that i used to do with my Family Day Care children. I had so many great responses from my parents in care with this wonderful idea, so i wanted to share the idea with everyone to see what you think!!! Its

a type of diary that you can keep from any age but i found it to be great from the toddler age. Buy a book with blank pages, any type you like, i bought your plain scrapbook that you can get with action hero's, winnie the pooh ect on the front covers. I also got the parents to cover these books in what ever they liked. This was nice to see come back as so many put so much time and effort into them!!! Alot made a type of collage with their photos of their little ones and family then placed contact over them, or their childrens paintings that they had done

I got them to bring their books everyday to care so i could do some work in them with their child. This is what i am doing with Myah my 17mth old now. It doesnt have to be everyday but maybe a couple of times a week. I write a small bit on what we did for the day and what she ate and then i take a photo of her doing something refering to what i had written in the book. I also bought some fancy stickers for her to stick in there and she also does a little craft work and and find somewhere in there for that too!! Stamping is also fun along with just a little drawing of their hands. You could also use a little glitter to make it fun,oh so many ideas, you will come up with heaps as you go along. For example, going on a walk and pick up nature items like leaves and bark, we go home and draw on it and then stick it into the book and i then write a little bit in there of where we found it and what we were doing for the day.Write down what they learnt new that day, new words, new food they tried and liked or didnt like, new places that you visited. They learn so many things everyday and its so hard to remember those things as they grow.  Myah is so enjoying this as she sits down for a quiet moment during the day , has a look at her photos and her special drawings with excitment. I also read back to her what we had done for the week like a story and we talk aboutthe photo. Its like a scrapbook but for the little ones to enjoy!!! I also place the date on the top of the page of each day entry. These books can go on till they go to school and you will be amazed when you go looking back on each book of how much have have developed in growth and skills.

You dont have to be crafty to do this, its just like a baby book except home made and has some hands on memories from your little one for you to keep and treasure as they grow!!

Let me know how you go !! When we have a little more work in Myah's book i will place a photo up foryou to see how clever she is!!

Thanks for reading ......

 Cheers Naomi

This will be something for them to treasure when they are older or memories for you to keep.

So cool, This is brilliant...A way to use up the art work and to spend quality fun time with them....I will so be trying to do this....It would also make a brilliant christmas present for Grand parents that dont see the little grand cherubs very often....And give me a reason to print the photos that I love to take....

Thanks for a wonderful idea naomi...

Cheers

Yep, never too young to start and if they keep up with their scrapping you'll see many milestones achieved. Gives them a terrific sense of self and achievement too.

Great idea here Na and thanks i might give it a go hey. Although Ella isnt very crafty lol obviously got that attitude from her father. She does have a sticker book that i reward her for good behaviour and wrote why she deserved it.

Good advice

Love Kell

Wow.. Na.. that was a great article !!

I'd honestly never thought of doing that before..
But your article sucked me in, like a vaccum cleaner. LOL

Seriously, what a wonderful idea..
I think it would be great, for BOTH me and Alisha to look back on..

And I think that's great that Myah actually recognises the book.. and is so excited when she adds stuff to it !!!!!

Thanks for the idea..
I'll let you know how I go (if I ever get around to it.. lol.. so lazy.. haha.. so tired all the time. LOL)

Re: Fun Scrapbooking for the little ones to do!!

hey thanks Thuy!!!

It is a really great thing to do. I didnt think i would get the great response i did from my Day Care parents. When i run into them they always tell me how thier kiddies always look back on the wonderful times they had with me. It gave them fond memories of the time they spent here, the things they made and did, the outings we went on and most of all MEEEEEEEE !!!!!!! LOL

Myah and i will have all this too now....Im so glad i take that 20 mins out every couple of days to do this with her...

thanks for the comment sweetie

love na xxxxx
