for new mums

racechick23 by racechick23 Standing(August 13th) (rank 500+)

im a new mum myself so dont think im a miss know all.

here are some advice for new mums who have had cesarean birth.  any other advise from others are  more then welcome.

having a emergency cesa myself i found a few tips that made my

recover easier so i thought i would share them.

*a hairdrier is really helpful for drying urself  and your scar after having a shower/bath

* walking is the best way to help recover faster just dont over do it.

*track pants are more comfy  for the first few weeks as they dont press on the scar area

* when your ready to start exercising a exercise ball does wonders (plus bub will enjoy the gentle bouncing

hope these tips help you in any way and if people have any other tips then they welcome to add

Re: for new mums

Hi there,

Your advice is spot on . . I have had 2 c-sections and I learnt quickly that hairdryers were an excellent way to help keep my scar nice and dry and walking with your back straight is excellent way of helping with the healing .. C-sections are so very very painful and making sure that your recovery is done correctly is the best way of achieving a great outcome .

Cheers Kellz

Re: for new mums

All valid points - also due to having had what is essentially abdominal surgery it is good to have people around to assist with daily chores and driving places etc.

The usual rules are 'no heavy lifting and no driving for up to 6 weeks'.  Make the most of your partner and friends in this time.  Of course it is not always possible to get this kind of assistance, but above all else you must ensure that you don't overdo things - healing takes time and bub needs you long term as well as in these first few special days/weeks.

Peace
