40 weeks

mcm by mcm Young Parent(September 2008) (rank 3rd)

I am still pregnant awaiting the arrival of the newest member of our family. I am trying to keep busy and keep organised. Nesting and preparing for baby can keep your mind off the pregnancy. It can be hard when people expect babies to arrive on time or even before

40 weeks. My first child arrived 3 days over my EDD and my boys 14 and 7 days respectively.

If you are comfortable and your health is fine its safe to go overdue by weeks. EDD is not an exact science and all babies seem to have their own plans!

Though frustrating waiting for bub to decide to arrive, take advantage of the time with your partner and family and friends. Babies are easier to care for in utero. It does become harder to go out with a newborn.

Though well meaning it can be annoying to get calls asking if you have had baby every day. Don't be afraid to leave the phone and let the answering machine answer. Also stress may interfere in you going into labour. Enjoy your rest.

Re: 40 weeks

I'm 40w1d today.  While I'm definitely getting antsy, I'm not in any rush to hurry things along by getting an induction.  I'm glad she's held off coming for so long--it's given me a great opportunity to catch up on the housework and focus on some of the things I wanted to do before bringing a newborn home.

Re: 40 weeks

aww girl!  I hear you on that - in fact when the questions start as soon as a lady announces she is pregnant and everyone thinks she wants to do the math for them.  When someone says "Due in (whatever month)" surely people should work it out themselves.  lol

It is a credit to every woman who doesn't crack under that kinda strain, let alone when it goes over a little.  lol

Peace

Re: 40 weeks

I remember when I was pregnant (Long time ago)  and I am 4ft 10ins and was probably the same measurement around my tummy and people would still say "Have you had the baby yet" and I used to answer " what do you think ?" It's funny isn't it? The stupid questions we sometimes ask many of them just want to make a comment, I'm sure I do it too

Re: 40 weeks

Great advice, I have just ten weeks to go and I am getting a little tired of people asking "How long now?" unfortuanately I have had the nesting instinct for a while  and all I need now is a baby! LOL!
